Everyone has heard the phrase, "Why
didn't I think of that!" As evidenced by
the picture above, sometimes everything comes together
with the right equipment/ ideas/customers at the
right time. The perfect picture gets better as the
combination also actually conserves water.
Real estate equals money! So how is
a business with limited space going to help the
environment (conserve water) and increase the bottom
line without incurring down time to change the existing
facility? Enter Keeping Pace with "BOB"!
"BOB", Best of the Bunch, is the answer
to the most common problems with recycled water
systems: storage and maintenance issues that lead
too less than a "Clean, Shiny, Dry Car".
Leaders in the reclaim industry believe
you must have large quantities of storage, to allow
Mother Nature to clean the water with enough gravitational
force. Most also believe they are able to filter
the water once and clean sufficiently, hence the
dishwater look. Bags, "magic boxes", high
efficiency particle separators, and media filters
are also accepted methods of filtration. All are
effective if used properly; however they all involve
some degree of maintenance. Dependent on your wash
volume and qualified or available maintenance personnel
this is the greatest test of high quality wash water.
Experience has proven most systems are installed,
operated for a short time and as soon as odors and
poor quality washes rear their ugly heads, they
are shut down. Why in the world would you expend
the time and energy to purchase and install a reclaim
system and then bypass all this effort?
Producing a "Clean, Shiny,
Dry car" (as stated by Kenneth "Chip"
Shaw) has always been the primary problem associated
with reclaiming systems. Generally odors and a hazy
film left behind by the recycled water are standouts
in everyone's thoughts. Numerous reclaim manufacturers
have told us that you must be careful which chemicals
you use with reclaim waters. Polymers, silicones
and oil & grease present negative by-products
when reused over and over. New technologies on the
market have moved toward the use of long-chain polymers
and surfactants in an attempt to enhance and provide
an environmentally friendly, safer wash that actually
cleans your vehicle.
